A New Home for Norviwo

Norviwo has found a new premises, even better than the last!

We have a new home!

Last year, we received the unsettling news that we could no longer continue using the Norviwo Community Center property. However, what initially seemed a setback, soon turned into fantastic new opportunities: every end is a new beginning!

We have moved to a fantastic new property! Our new home provides us with much more room for offices, better residential facilities, and the ability to provide an increased level of engaging activities with our Scholars & Residents.

In addition to classroom and office spaces, we have a great kitchen space and dormitory room for the girls to sleep in.

There is so much excitement that comes with this move!

The first weeks spend at our new place were filled with the joy of making it our own. A great deal of teamwork from staff, interns, and residents was required to bring the Norviwo identity to the new building. Our efforts spanned from installing cupboards, to hanging frames, arranging furniture, bringing life to the rooms, and so much more. It was a great new start!

Our new premises provide us with the space to think big, especially with education and development programs. Even during this busy adjustment period, we still managed to host our street residents for Wellness Wednesdays. We were surprised that attendance DOUBLED due to their risen curiosity to discover our new space.

Everyone quickly found pleasure in our fantastic outside area! There is so much space under the huge shady tree, enabling us to play football, basketball and carry out various fun team-building games and activities.

  • Our new premises provide us with the space to think big, especially with education and development programs... it is a place where we can all come together to build connections, and be a family.

During the first weeks after the relocation, we quickly got back into our usual flow: Classroom activities resumed, personal hygiene sessions continued, and our art and pottery workshops commenced. We put structures and goals into place for the rest of the year, we celebrated birthdays, and we welcomed our scholars to their new home while they were on school break. We also hosted Service Learners from Ashesi University and remain to impact the children we serve on a daily basis.

The place is already filled with so many lively memories! We have truly made use of the transition and quickly filled the walls of New Norviwo with LAUGHTER, LOVE, and CARE!

Afterall, some things never change. Norviwo Community Center remains to be the place where we can all come together to build connections, and be a family.
